It was an exciting exploration of landscape and light undertaken by 13 artists over a 5-day residency from the 22 to the 26 January 2018. A Private View was held on Friday 26 January from 6 until 9 p.m.
Following on from the acclaimed success of the first event in 2016, this second residency was entitled l l II. It was headed up by Jane Watt and David Baldry, Pauline and Matthew Bickerton. The other 9 artists in residency were: Kate Bright; Susan Brinkhurst; John Christie; Lloyd Evans; Spadge Hopkins; Russell Marsh; Hannah Maynard; Emily Richardson and Lol Sargent.
The first Landscape & Light occurred in January 2016 and was the outcome of an idea to offer emerging artists from the Fine Art course at University Campus Suffolk (UCS) the opportunity to make work, predominantly video, in response to the landscape and buildings around Letheringham Lodge in Suffolk.
'This unique medieval hunting lodge, home to Pauline and Matthew Bickerton, provided an incredible reference point and genesis for new site-specific works made during the short space of these five-day residencies'. University Campus Suffolk.
